Privacy policy

You can browse everything on this site without an account and without telling us who you are. We don't run advertising, ad trackers, or cross-site analytics, and we don't set tracking cookies. The activity numbers you see on the site are day-level aggregates (visits, check-ins, passers-by) — they contain nothing about any individual person.

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider (Vercel) produces standard, short-lived server logs — things like IP address, requested page, and browser type — used for operating and securing the service.

If you subscribe to updates, we ask for exactly one thing: your email address. Signup is double opt-in (nothing happens until you click the confirmation link we email you), every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and you can change your topic choices any time via the preferences link.

Your address and topic choices are stored with our email provider, Brevo, and used for one purpose only: sending you the library updates you picked. Your address is never stored on the library device itself, never shared with anyone else, and never used for anything besides the newsletter. Unsubscribing removes you from all sends immediately; if you want your address deleted entirely, reply to any newsletter email and we'll take care of it.

The newsletter signup form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which distinguishes humans from bots without puzzles or tracking-based CAPTCHAs. To do that, Turnstile evaluates certain browser and network signals; that processing is done by Cloudflare and is described in the Cloudflare Turnstile privacy policy and the Cloudflare privacy policy. Turnstile is used solely to prevent abuse of the signup form.

The physical library uses sensors (door, camera, distance, voice) that activate only while the door is open, to understand library activity — a book came in, a book went out, a session happened. That data stays on the device at the library; it is not uploaded to this website. What the site receives is the book catalog and day-level activity counts — never recordings, never anything about an identifiable visitor. The full principles we build by are on the home page.

Unsubscribe from any email with one click, adjust topics via your preferences link, or ask us to delete your address by replying to any newsletter email. If you have questions about any of this, the best way to reach us is the same way — or stop by the box and say hello.
